New Zealand and the Netherlands locked horns in the 6th match of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, in Hyderabad. The Dutch skipper Scott Edwards won the toss and asked the Kiwis to bat first. Batting first, New Zealand posted a big total of 322 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

Opener Will Young and young batting all-rounder Rachin Ravindra, played the knocks of 70 and 51 runs, respectively. Other than this, skipper Tom Latham and number four batter Daryl Mitchell also contributed with the knocks of 53 and 48 runs, respectively.

Aryan Dutt, Paul van Meekeren, and Roelof van der Merwe scalped 2 wickets each, alongside one wicket picked by star all-rounder Bas de Leede.

While chasing the target, the Netherlands had a few good knocks but they kept losing wickets at quick intervals, which eventually ended their innings on the score of 223 runs in 46.3 overs. Senior number three batter Colin Ackermann was the leading run-scorer for the Netherlands with a knock of 69 runs off 73 balls, hitting 5 fours.

Other than him, skipper Scott Edwards and lower middle-order batter Sybrand Engelbrecht also played the knocks of 30 and 29 runs, respectively. Star New Zealand spinner Mitchell Santner claimed a brilliant five-wicket haul, scalping 5 wickets at the cost of 59 runs in his quota of 10 overs. Other than him, senior pacer Matt Henry also picked 3 wickets, alongside one wicket bagged by Rachin Ravindra.

Eventually, New Zealand won the match by 99 runs against the Netherlands and registered their second consecutive win in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 after a 9-wicket win against England in the tournament opener. Mitchell Santner won the ‘Player of the Match award for his match-winning performance, including an unbeaten knock of 36 runs in the first innings followed by a five-wicket haul in the second innings.
