Former Indian skipper and the modern-day batting great, Virat Kohli achieved another milestone in India’s ODI World Cup 2023 campaign opener against Australia. Kohli, with his 85-run knock against Australia, has now become the highest run scorer in the successful run chases in the history of ODI cricket. He has scored 5517 runs for India in the successful run chases, in 92 innings of the 98 matches, he appeared.
Virat Kohli surpassed the former legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar, who had scored 5490 runs in 124 innings of the 127 matches, he played for India in the successful run chases. The only active player in this list is the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who is in the fourth spot on the all-time list of the highest run scorers in run chases, scoring 3983 runs in 89 innings of the 93 matches, he played in winning cause for India.
Coming back to Kohli, he also has the highest batting average and most centuries in the successful run-chases, with 88.98, alongside 22 centuries and 23 half-centuries with the willow.
Notably, the 34-year-old is just 3 centuries away from breaking the record for the highest number of ODI centuries, which is currently in the name of former legendary Indian batter, Sachin Tendulkar. Kohli, during the Asia Cup 2023, also became the fastest to score 13,000 ODI runs just in 267 innings, surpassing Tendulkar, who had achieved this feat in 321 innings.

Speaking of the action of the ODI World Cup 2023 match between India and Australia, the Aussies got bundled out on the score of 199 runs in 49.3 overs in the first innings. Indian spinners, including the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravichandran Ashwin scalped a total of 6 wickets, alongside 3 wickets picked by the pacers.
While chasing the target, India fell into a miserable position after losing the first three wickets on the score of only 2 runs. But the match-defining partnership of 165 runs for the fourth wicket between Virat Kohli and KL Rahul guided India to a comprehensive win by 6 wickets to start their ODI World Cup 2023 on a winning note.
