Pakistan ODI captain Shaheen Afridi stated that the Pakistan Shaheen’s 8-wicket win over India A in the Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament was a ‘huge achievement’ for the side. His words came after he led the Men in Green to a 3-0 clean sweep over Sri Lanka in the recent ODIs at home.
Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 6 wickets in the third and final ODI in Rawalpindi. Sri Lanka mustered 211 runs batting first, with Sadeera Samarawickrama top-scoring with 48 runs. Mohammad Wasim Jr. starred with 3/47.
In response, Fakhar Zaman made 55, and Mohammad Rizwan made 61* as Pakistan chased down the total in 45 overs with 6 wickets in hand.
Applauding the contribution of the Pakistan team as well as Wasim, Shaheen Afridi spoke about the positive development of the team since the South Africa series.
"Winning the series 3-0, always happy. Like I said during the 1st game, everyone has been confident. They have been in good touch since the South Africa series. All 15 players should be ready for any game. The rotation policy is good for us. Credit goes to him. He was sitting on the bench but still worked. He played domestic cricket as well and bowled well to him. They are wicket-takers. The way Wasim Jr. came back after injury. They are both match-winners for the team," Shaheen Afridi told the reporters after the match.
Mohammad Wasim Jr. was awarded the Player of the Match, while Haris Rauf won the Player of the Series.
The Pakistan Shaheens' victory over India A in the ongoing Asia Cup Rising Stars Tournament in Doha further excited Shaheen Afridi.
Notably, Maaz Sadaqat's firepower helped Pakistan Shaheens chase down a score of 137 and win the game by 8 wickets with 40 balls left. Shaheen posted a statement on the victory that made it obvious how excited he was.
"Pakistan Shaheens won against our neighbors, so that's a big achievement for us," said Shaheen.
India A was bowled out for 136 despite 45 by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and 35 by Naman Dhir. In response, Pakistan won by eight wickets as Maaz Sadaqat slammed 79*.
