Australian captain Pat Cummins has selected his India-Australia combined ODI XI. However, the XI has to be composed of players who are no longer active in the format. Notably, India is scheduled to take on Australia in the three-match ODI series, starting on Sunday, October 19 in Perth.

It’s important to note that Cummins is currently out of the cricketing action due to an injury and might miss the first Ashes Test in November as well. The three-match ODI series will also mark the international comeback for the Indian veteran batting duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

While the first ODI starts on Sunday, October 19, in Perth, the second ODI will be played at Adelaide Oval on Thursday, October 23. The third and final ODI will be played at SCG in Sydney on Saturday, October 25.

"Virat and Rohit have been part of almost every Indian side for the last 15 years, so this might be the last chance for the Australian public to see them playing out here. They've obviously been champions of the game for India and are always very well supported. Whenever we play them, the crowd gets loud," Cummins told JioHotstar.

Speaking about his India-Australia combined ODI XI among retired players, Cummins went ahead with David Warner and Sachin Tendulkar as the opening pair with Ricky Ponting and Steve Smith taking up No.3 and No.4 positions respectively.

Moving forward, he has slotted Shane Watson and Michael Bevan at No.5 and No.6 respectively. MS Dhoni will take over the keeping duties while Shane Warne is the lone spinner in the XI. Brett Lee, Zaheer Khan and Glenn McGrath will form the deadly pace trio.
