According to reports in Pakistan media, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to impose a hefty fine on the national team following their poor exit from the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 campaign.

According to The Express Tribune report, each member of the Pakistan squad is set to be fined PKR 5 Million, which is roughly INR 16 Lakh, for not meeting the board’s expectations in the showpiece event.

Notably, this decision was taken by the PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi. Moreover, the report suggested that the decision to impose fines was taken right after Pakistan’s defeat to their arch-rivals India in the group stage at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

While Pakistan started their campaign with a narrow three-wicket win over the Netherlands in the group stage, they bagged a convincing 32-run win over the USA in their second group stage encounter.

However, they suffered their first defeat of the campaign to their arch-rivals India by 61 runs in their third game of the event. However, they made a comeback with a 102-run win over Namibia in their fourth group stage game to enter the Super8 round.

While their first Super8 clash against New Zealand ended without a result due to rain, Pakistan later suffered a two-wicket narrow defeat to England in their second clash of the Super8 round. Though they defeated Sri Lanka by five runs in their third Super8 clash, it was too late by then as New Zealand went ahead in the NRR race to qualify for the semi-finals.

Notably, opening batter Sahibzada Farhan was the lone bright spot of the campaign for the Men In Green, surpassing Virat Kohli's 2014 record for the most runs in a single T20 World Cup edition by accumulating 383 runs at an average of 76.60.
