KKR reappoints Shreyas Iyer as their captain for IPL 2024. Nitish Rana, the captain of KKR in 2023, is appointed as the vice-captain for 2024. The duo will work together along with Gautam Gambhir in the new leadership era of KKR. The fans are happy with the captaincy and this lead for the season, who hope for new beginnings to the franchise in the IPL 2024.
Under the captaincy of Shreyas, KKR could not achieve much in 2022. Ahead of IPL 2023, Iyer was injured and hence ruled out of the entire season, In his absence, Nitish Rana was named the captain for the team. KKR did not have much success either under the leadership of Rana. As the things are back to normalcy, Iyer will be leading the KKR team again.
The star cricketer will be hoping to take KKR to glory. In the last 9 years, Kolkata Knight Riders has not won a trophy. The last time they won the league in 2014, Gambhir was the captain and created a legacy for himself as far as his captaincy was concerned. Iyer would be hoping to repeat the same by helping KKR to win their third title in the IPL 2024.

KKR made the news official by positing it in X. In the press release, the CEO of KKR spoke about the leadership of KKR for IPL 2024. "It was indeed unfortunate that Shreyas missed IPL 2023 due to injury. We are delighted that he’s back and at the helm as captain. The way he has worked hard to recover from his injury and the form he has displayed is a testament to his character," said Venky Mysore.
"We are also grateful that Nitish had agreed to step into Shreyas’s shoes last season and did a great job. There’s no doubt Nitish as vice-captain will support Shreyas in every possible way for the benefit of Team KKR," added Venky. Ahead of the IPL auction 2024, KKR released many players. They will be eyeing for some quality overseas players.
