Team India is all set to play a white ball series after a long time and it's going to be a tour of Australia. The series is rather a short one with just three One Day Internationals in the mix. The team is going through a transition right now and so there are expected to be some changes, while some players have been rested as well. Here is the probably playing XI India might present against Australia in the 1st ODI.
The opening slot is well settled and has been doing a great job for a long while for the Indian team. The experienced and veteran Rohit Sharma, along with the young skipper of the team, Shubhman Gill, have a great record between them. They are expected to continue with the same.
India’s number three has been permanent for many years now, and that position has been occupied by probably the best ODI batter of all time, Virat Kohli. He has a fantastic track record against Australia. Shreyas Iyer has solidified his position at number four and has excelled at it. He has been one of the major reasons India has done tremendously well in the format in the last couple of years.
The designated wicketkeeper of the team and batter who has held the number five position in the team, KL Rahul, will be handling the middle order. He is expected to be accompanied by Axar Patel, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar. All of them are all-rounders and expected to contribute well with the bat as well as the ball.
Kuldeep Yadav would then be the lead spinner of the team, adding variety to the bowling and being their strike bowler. He can also be handy with the bat. The pace duo for this tour is expected to be Mohammad Siraj and Arshdeep Singh, both of whom have done a great job in the white ball formats in the last few years.
Overall, the playing XI does seem different due to some omissions and some rested players, but this team also seems like a well-balanced team. The team has batting depth, some quality bowling and plenty of options to bowl when needed.
India’s predicted ODI XI vs Australia:
Shubman Gill (C), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (VC), KL Rahul (WK), Axar Patel, Nitish Reddy, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh.
