India will play a two-match Test series against the West Indies. The first game of the series will be played in Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium from October 2–6, and the second game will be played at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium from October 10–14. On Thursday, September 25, the BCCI revealed India's 15-man roster for the home series against the team captained by Roston Chase. The best playing XI for India is shown here.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul have done a brilliant job at the top of the order, both in the England series as well as other home and away tours. So, tinkering with the opening duo does not make sense, and they will continue to do the job.
The middle order is where some changes can be seen. However, some names seem to be continuing, such as Sai Sudharsan, Shubhman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, and Dhruv Jurel, in the absence of Rishabh Pant. India boasts of an extremely strong middle order, which already has an all-rounder in Jadeja, but holds the capability to play just as a batter as well. Dhruv Jurel will be the designated wicketkeeper for the series while Rishabh Pant is making his recovery from the injury.
The other two all-rounders of the team would be Axar Patel and Washington Sundar, both of whom can bowl spin and are top quality in their work. They can play useful and impactful innings down the order with the bat and bowl opposition away with their spin. Having such quality all-rounders increases the cushion of the team and provides more options to choose from, while batting as well as bowling.
The lower order is expected to consist of Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj. They all can hold the fort, if and when needed, but their expertise lies in bowling out the opponent batters. However, a call can be taken if there is a need for Bumrah to be playing in this game, as the team has been looking to manage his workload better. This makes an extremely strong line-up of the Indian team.
India’s predicted XI vs WI: Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj.
