Punjab Kings' opening batter Priyansh Arya, who had an excellent season for his franchise in the IPL 2025 season, continued his heroics for the Delhi Premier League franchise Outer Delhi Warriors, scoring 303 runs from eight innings.
Interestingly, he is currently the fourth leading run-getter of the DPL 2025 season, which includes a 52-ball century against the East Delhi Riders. On Wednesday, August 20, he smacked a 30-ball 76-run knock against North Delhi Strikers to propel his team to a seven-wicket win.
Speaking to India Today, the Southpaw stated that there wasn’t much pressure in both the DPL seasons, and his only goal in the ongoing season is to perform better than last year. With three more games left in the season, he is aiming to put up better performances.
“No, there wasn’t much pressure last year, and even this year, I didn’t feel it. I just wanted to perform better than last year. There are still three matches left, so I’ll try to bounce back in those,” Arya told India Today.
In the IPL 2025 season, Arya scored 475 runs from 17 innings at an average of 29.74 and a strike rate of 179.24 with a century and two half-centuries. His best score of the season was a 103-run knock.
“No, consistency is important. Of course, impactful innings look good if the team wins, but if we don’t win, then I know I need to focus more on consistency,” he added.
Furthermore, Arya revealed that he received full freedom from the PBKS head coach Ricky Ponting and captain Shreyas Iyer, which was one of the reasons behind his batting success in the IPL 2025 season.
“Both of them gave me a lot of freedom to play the way I want, as long as it benefits the team. Whether I score 30 off 10 balls or 30 off 30 balls, as long as it helps the team, they were happy with that,” he concluded.
