The T20 format has completely changed the landscape of cricket. Strike rates are no longer overrated and are the most important, while finally, averages are not given more weightage. Several batters are equipped to bat in the T20 format and achieve success as well. On the international level as well, only specific T20 batters are picked in the team and more often teams, T20Is and ODIs are different. Here we bring you top 5 T20I batters at the moment

5. Pathum Nissanka

Sri Lanka have finally found a batter in Pathum Nissanka who can bat according to the format. In T20Is, he has been brilliant so far for them at the top of the order. He has scored 1950 runs in 68 matches at an average of 30.46 and a strike rate of 123.1. His strike rate could be an issue but the youngster has time to improve on this aspect and has the ability to finish on top in the format.

4. Phil Salt

Phil Salt will certainly end his career as a T20 legend, the way he is batting at the moment in the format. He scored a century against South Africa recently, notching an unbeaten 141 runs off just 60 balls. Overall, Salt has scored 1334 runs in 45 T20Is at an average of 37.05 and a strike rate of close to 170 with four tons and five fifties. Salt tends to play long innings if he gets his eye in and can be very difficult to get out.

3. Travis Head

Travis Head bats the same way across all formats of the game. In T20Is, he continues to be the beast at the top of the order for Australia and is known to take the bowlers on right from the word go. He has so far played 41 matches in the shortest form of the sport and scored 1119 runs at an average of 31.08 and a strike rate of 156.72 with five fifties to his name. Head is yet to unleash his full potential in T20Is just like he has done in the IPL and when he does, no team will sustain in front of him.

2. Jos Buttler

Jos Buttler could be approaching the end of his career but his T20I credentials remain on high as always. He slammed 80-odd runs off just 30 deliveries as England crossed the 300-run mark in the format for the first time against South Africa. Overall, Buttler has scored 3808 runs in 139 T20Is at an average of 36.26 and strike rate of 148.92 with a century and 28 fifties to his name. He is arguably the best ever to play the format and will end as one of the legends of the T20 cricket as well.

1. Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav is India’s captain and also the best batter in T20I cricket currently. Ever since he has made his debut in the format, Surya has not looked back. He is an absolute specialist in the shortest format even though India tried to play him in ODIs and Tests where he struggled immensely. Surya has so far played 84 T20Is and scored 2605 runs at an average of 38.3 and a strike rate of 167.3 with four centuries and 21 fifties to his name.
