Ravichandran Ashwin, a former Indian cricket player, bemoaned the present indirect communication between players and selectors in the nation's system.

His comments coincide with doubts about Mohammed Shami, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma's futures. According to Ashwin, players were scared to speak with the selectors directly for fear that the information would be leaked.

In the IND vs. AUS first ODI, the pair made their first appearance on the international scene since the Champions Trophy final. Regarding the pair's future in ODIs and whether they will be considered by the 2027 World Cup selectors, Ashwin made those comments.

Indian cricket is currently functioning on indirect speech, that is something I wish really changes. But that change needs to come from both players and the administration or selectors. The problem is if you talk directly, the matter gets leaked outside. So, obviously there is no confidence in the player to approach someone and say this is what is going on in my mind,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.

Rohit Sharma scored 8 runs whole Virat Kohli scored a duck in their first appearance for India in ODIs after seven months.

Why did he do that? Ashwin on Mohammad Shami calling out selector Ajit Agarkar directly

In addition to Rohit and Kohli, Shami's future is also unknown because of the back-and-forth between the pacer and top selector Ajit Agarkar following the former's exclusion from Australia ODI and T20I series.

“Shami performed well and spoke in a press conference. Why did he do that? Because he hasn’t got clarity. The one thing that I like is the chairman of selectors or captain fronting the press after every selection. This is about handling people with respect and dignity. It is the direct communication that everyone is worried about,” Ashwin added.
