RCB suffers home game disaster in WPL 2025, fans react with disappointment

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) faced intense criticism from fans after losing all four of their home games in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The defending champions struggled throughout the Bengaluru leg, failing to register a single win on their home turf.

RCB started their home campaign with a four-wicket loss to Mumbai Indians (MI). Their next match against UP Warriorz ended in a dramatic tie, but the visitors secured victory in the Super Over. Gujarat Giants (GG) then outclassed them with a comfortable six-wicket win last Thursday.

The misery continued as Delhi Capitals (DC) handed RCB their fourth consecutive home defeat with a crushing nine-wicket victory on Saturday (March 1). The home side was completely outplayed in all departments as DC dominated from start to finish.

Nallapureddy Charani (2/28), Shikha Pandey (2/24), and the rest of the DC bowling attack restricted RCB to 147/5 in the first innings. Shafali Verma (80*) and Jess Jonassen (60*) then made light work of the chase, finishing the game in just 15.3 overs with explosive half-centuries.

RCB fans, frustrated with the team’s dismal home performance, took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express their disappointment.

“Lag gayi men's team waali panauti inko...ab at least 10 saal tak trophy bhool jaao,” a fan wrote, drawing parallels with the franchise’s struggles in the men’s tournament.

“The team that silences their own crowd,” another fan commented.

"Ee Sala cup lollipopu," a fan quipped, mocking the team’s long-standing slogan.

Another reaction read, “RCB's game plan: score 147, huddle up, and hope Delhi Capitals forget how to bat.”

Smriti Mandhana expresses regret after RCB’s home struggles

RCB captain Smriti Mandhana addressed the team’s poor performance at home during the post-match presentation, apologizing to the fans for failing to deliver a single win at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

"Really hard one for the fans who came out and supported us in huge numbers. Would just say sorry because they came out in huge numbers. We couldn't win a match in Bangalore in WPL 2025. Huge thanks to them. They're still chanting RCB - there's a reason they're the best fans in the world," she said (via Cricbuzz).

RCB will look to bounce back when they face UP Warriorz in Lucknow on March 8.
