RCB's former IPL star to lead India in Hong Kong Sixes tournament 2025

Ahead of the competition, Cricket Hong Kong named Team India's captain on Tuesday. Dinesh Karthik, a former wicketkeeper for India and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, will captain the Indians. Karthik, who is well-known for his extensive international experience, astute leadership abilities, and explosive batting, is expected to motivate supporters and uplift the competitive spirit of the competition as captain.

Karthik has joined the Indian team for the Hong Kong Sixes, which will take place from November 7 to 9, with recently retired Ravichandran Ashwin. After the IPL 2024 season, the former Tamil Nadu batter announced his retirement from the lucrative T20 league. He last worked with RCB in the 2025 Indian Premier League as a mentor and assistant coach, helping the side win its first trophy after a 17-year wait.

He has participated in international T20 leagues since he retired from the IPL and international cricket, most recently making his debut abroad with the Paarl Royals during the most recent SA20 season. His leadership skills, batting background, and capacity for high-pressure play make him a strong contender to lead India in the fast-paced six-a-side format.
