Team India wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh was felicitated at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on November 8 for her key role in India’s ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 triumph. She was also appointed as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the West Bengal Police. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) hosted the ceremony, where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee personally handed her the appointment letter.

In addition, Richa received the prestigious Banga Bhushan award from the state government. To celebrate her 34-run knock (off 24 balls) in the final against South Africa, the CAB honoured her with a cash prize of ₹34 lakh along with a golden bat and ball.

While speaking about Richa and Team India’s success, Mamata Banerjee praised how veteran players like Jhulan Goswami paved the way for the new generation, with Richa and her teammates finally ending India Women’s ICC title drought.

Richa Ghosh scored 235 runs in eight innings in the World Cup

“Jhulan Goswami and everyone did a remarkable job. The dream was completed by Richa Ghosh and the team. My congratulations to all of them — the coach, team members, support staff, and the parents of all the players,” Mamata said.

“Richa has just begun her journey. I want our girls to always be on top. Our Bengal girls have done well in football, swimming, and archery. I believe our archers will bring home an Olympic medal. I expect great things from Richa Ghosh, but we will not put any pressure on her,” the CM added.

Throughout the World Cup, Richa delivered crucial performances with the bat. She scored an unbeaten 35 against Pakistan and a brilliant 94 against South Africa, guiding India to competitive totals. In the semi-final win over Australia, her vital 26 runs provided much-needed support to Jemimah Rodrigues while chasing that record-breaking total of 339 runs. Overall, she scored 235 runs in eight innings at an average of 39.16 and a strike rate of 133.52, including one fifty.

Although she had a forgettable outing behind the stumps against Pakistan in Colombo—dropping four catches—Richa bounced back strongly. She worked tirelessly on her keeping drills and displayed marked improvement for the rest of the tournament.
