“She was crying” - Rinku Singh recalls his fiancée Priya Saroj’s emotional moment after he hit 5 sixes in IPL

India batter Rinku Singh rose to fame after smashing five sixes in as many deliveries in IPL 2023 while playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) against Gujarat Titans. Yash Dayal was the bowler who was at the receiving end as Rinku did the unthinkable, when KKR needed 28 runs off the last five balls. 

Two years after the game-changing night, Rinku has revealed that his exploits in the game helped in strengthening his relationship with his no-fiancee Priya Saroj. Priya, who is also a member of Lok Sabha, got emotional after watching Rinku’s heroics live and the cricketer stated that her father started to know him after that day.

“So she (Priya) was crying on the phone. Saachi didi (Nitish Rana's wife) told me she was emotional. It was such a big day, five sixes were hit, people had started to know me. So I was feeling that maybe things could become easier. About marriage and all that. At that time her father didn't know who Rinku Singh is. He didn't know anything. He had no interest in cricket. Yes. So he didn't have that much idea,” Rinku said while speaking to Raj Shamani on his Youtube Channel.

That moment was life-changing for me, recalls Rinku

Rinku Singh also admitted that his heroics against the Gujarat Titans made him a star overnight and also recalled how his life changed forever. He also noted that his followers on Instagram began increasing multifold and soon, he was also picked in the Indian T20I team as well.

“That moment for me was life-changing. All the hard work I had done in my life, I got the reward in that match. My followers, Instagram followers started increasing, recognition came, from there everything changed. Overnight everything changed. Name, followers, everything was given by the One above that day,” Rinku added.

As for his relationship, Rinku Singh got engaged to Priya Saroj in June 2025 during a private ceremony in Lucknow and is currently in the UAE to participate in the Asia Cup.
