Team India vice-captain and keeper-batter Rishabh Pant has finally opened up on the reason behind losing control of his bat. Notably, Pant could be seen losing his bat control in the second innings of the Birmingham Test, which caught the attention of many.
While speaking to Dinesh Karthik, the former Indian keeper-batter, on Sky Sports Cricket, Pant stated that he doesn’t know the actual reason why it always happens with him. However, he is not much bothered about it.
"Personally, I don't think about that. At the same time, when I am in the moment, it just happens with me, man. Moment happens, everything happens, I am not too focused on thinking how is it happening? It is just about letting it flow," Pant said on Sky Sports.
Pant, who started off the Leeds Test with twin centuries, emerged as the first Indian batter to do so in Tests in England. Moreover, he became the second keeper-batter after Andy Flower to achieve this rare feet in England.
Moreover, Pant also shared his batting plan while sitting outside in the dressing room. Also, he stated how he gets hold of things when he comes out to bat. Interestingly, Pant’s 65-run knock in the second innings of the Birmingham Test played a crucial role behind India’s 336-run win.
"Generally, when I am sitting out, I watch a few balls, make a generalized plan, and then see how the wicket is playing and all. While sitting outside, you know how the bowlers are bowling, how they are planning, and once you get a hold of that sitting outside, then obviously, playing out a few balls, get a feel of the wicket, and then make a basic plan to work it around," he added.
