Rishabh Pant reveals his mentor’s advice after victory against SRH

Lucknow Super Giants keeper-batter and captain Rishabh Pant has revealed his mentor’s piece of advice to focus on the controllables. Notably, this could be the former Indian and CSK captain MS Dhoni’s advice 

Notably, Dhoni has been actively mentoring Rishabh Pant for a long time. However, it’s still not clear who exactly was Pant’s mentor in this instance. He also added that it’s not about getting too high when the team wins, but it’s about not getting too low when the team loses.

“Big relief, but as a team, we talk about the process. It is not about getting too high when you win and not about getting too low when you lose. As a team, we can’t focus on uncontrollables; my mentor said to focus on controllables, and that is what I did," Rishabh Pant said while speaking after the match.

Shardul Thakur played a key role in changing the game’s complexion against SRH on Thursday night. LSG came into the game with SRH being strong favorites to win this game at their own home ground. However, Thakur’s four-fer turned the game upside down.

Moreover, Prince Yadav was also exceptional in scalping wickets in the middle overs to fine tune the game towards his side. In the chase, Nicholas Pooran was in god mode, smacking 70 runs off 26 balls with six fours and six sixes.

“Good to see the way Prince bowled, and also, Thakur was really good. I think we just want to give him (Pooran) the freedom. You’ve got to give someone the charge when he is batting well, and he has batted brilliantly for us," Pant added.

After losing their season opener to Delhi Capitals by one wicket, LSG had a good game against the dominating SRH side. They will next take on Punjab Kings at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Tuesday, April 1.
