Rohit Sharma

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma skipped the pre-match press conference ahead of the fifth and final Test of the series at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney. However, Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir took the questions from the media and opened up on the dressing room leaks.

After India’s 184-run defeat in the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, reports surfaced that Gautam Gambhir lashed out at Indian batters in the dressing room for not sticking to the game plan.

When asked about the dressing room leaks that went viral on the internet, Gautam Gambhir straightaway answered stating that whatever happens in the dressing room should be restricted to there itself.

"Every individual knows in which area they need to work. When you play for your country, you want to give your best. I think the debates between a player and a coach should remain between them - conversations should be restricted to the dressing room," Gambhir stated at the press conference.

Will Rohit Sharma play in Sydney? Gambhir answers

Indian captain Rohit Sharma has been in the news for his poor show in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy, scoring only 31 runs in five innings. His scores in the series read 3, 6, 10, 3 and 9 at an average of 6.20.

“Everything is fine with Rohit and we will announce that (Playing 11) tomorrow, after seeing the pitch. We had just one conversation in our dressing room - how we will win the next test, as it is important for us,” Gambhir added.

On Rohit Sharma not attending the press conference, Gambhir stated that, "I don't think it's anything traditional, I think the Head Coach is here that should be fine and that should be good enough."

Before concluding the press conference, Gambhir stated that the team is extremely confident to win in Sydney and retain the Border Gavaskar Trophy.

In conclusion, the absence of Rohit Sharma from the pre-match press conference and Gautam Gambhir's comments on dressing room leaks highlight the internal challenges faced by Team India. Despite the setbacks, Gambhir's confidence in the team's ability to win the final Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground and retain the Border Gavaskar Trophy remains strong. As the team prepares for the crucial match, fans will be eagerly watching to see how India responds to the pressure.
