Pakistan opening batter Sahibzada Farhan ended his ICC Men's T20 World Cup campaign with 383 runs in six games, breaking the former Indian talismanic batter Virat Kohli's record for the most runs in any single edition of the tournament.
It’s important to note that Farhan scored his second century of the campaign when he smacked an exceptional hundred against Sri Lanka in their third and final Super8 game in Pallekele on Saturday, February 28.
Notably, Farhan concluded the tournament with a whopping 383 runs at an average of 76.60 to surpass the previous best of 319 runs, held by Kohli at the ICC T20 World Cup 2014 edition, hosted by Bangladesh.
Additionally, Farhan also emerged as the second player in the history of the T20 World Cup to have scored multiple centuries at the tournament. Chris Gayle also managed two centuries at the T20 World Cup, but the West Indies great scored his at two different tournaments (2007 and 2016).
Despite Farhan's heroics in the showpiece event, Pakistan failed to reach the knockout stages for the second consecutive T20 World Cup. The last time Pakistan made it through to the semi-finals was way back in 2022 when they finished as the runners-up behind England.
