Sandeep Sharma, the fast bowler for Rajasthan Royals (RR), has been ruled out of the remainder of the IPL 2025 season. This happened after Sandeep suffered a fracture on a finger on his right hand during RR’s previous match against Gujarat Titans on Monday, April 28.
This match was played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur and saw Vaibhav Suryavanshi become the youngest batter ever to score a century in IPL and men’s T20 cricket. His 35-ball century was also the fastest by an Indian in IPL and the second-fastest ever, just behind Chris Gayle’s 30-ball effort.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi's record-breaking century helped Rajasthan defeat the Gujarat Titans, boosting their spirits.
Out of the 11 games they have played so far, Rajasthan has only achieved three victories and eight losses. They can only receive a maximum of 12 points at the end, which is insufficient to qualify.
Sandeep Sharma suffers finger fracture; to miss rest of IPL 2025
Sandeep Sharma will be missed by the Rajasthan Royals (RR) for the rest of the 2025 Indian Premier League. When RR played Gujarat Titans (GT), the right-arm pacer broke his finger.
When Sandeep was bowling to the GT captain in the first innings, he attempted to block a shot from Shubman Gill. To check on the 31-year-old, the team's physio hurried into the center. Sandeep completed his four-over period with eight more deliveries, demonstrating a remarkable display of tenacity and resolve.
The seasoned speedster was absent from Thursday's match between Rajasthan and the Mumbai Indians (MI) in Jaipur.
He was welcomed at the RR team hotel with applause and wore a shoulder support while his fingers were strapped in tight.
Overall, Sandeep took nine wickets from 10 games at an average of 40.11 and a strike rate of 24.33 this season. He conceded runs at an economy rate of 9.89.
The next games for RR are against the Chennai Super Kings on May 12, the Punjab Kings on May 16, and the Kolkata Knight Riders on May 4.
