Sanjay Bangar joins Punjab Kings as the Head of cricket development for the IPL 2024. The former Indian Batting coach was a part of the franchise from 2014 to 2016 as a coach. AS RCB released Bangar from coaching stint after the IPL 2023, PBKS have got him back in their side. Bangar is expected to work with PBKS right from planning for the auction of the season.
Bangar would help Trevor Bayliss and co to pick the players in the auction. On the 8th of December, PBKS took to social media and announced the return of Bangar in their side. PBKS wrote that Bangar is back with them for the IPL 2024 as the new Head of Cricket Development. PBKS termed Bangar as 'Sher' in their announcement post, which was observed by the readers.
"We are delighted to announce the return of our sher, Sanjay Bangar as the new Head of Cricket Development at Punjab Kings. Mr. Bangar brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our organization, and we are confident that under his leadership, our cricket development programs will reach new heights," PBKS wrote on its social media post.

In their post, PBKS mentioned that Bangar brings wealth of expertise and experience to their squad. PBKS felt confident about their chances in the IPL 2024 and added that they would reach new heights under Bangar's new role. Bangar reacted to his appointment in PBKS after the franchise revealed about it. Bangar said that it is his privilege to be back in PBKS.
"It's my privilege to be with the Punjab Kings again. We have a good core of players as evidenced by the fact that we have the lowest number of player releases this year," said Bangar. The former Indian coach felt that they have a good core around whom the team could be built. RCB did not renew the contract with Bangar for the IPL 2024, which got him back in the franchise based from Northern part of the country.
