Mumbai Indians had a very good auction in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. In the 16th edition of the league, the bowling of MI had flaws and they needed to rectify it, which is exactly what they did in the auction table. They have some very good bowling options like Gerald Coetzee, Dilshan Madushanka, Nuwan Tushara, Shreyas Gopal, and others. They also have some other players who can be helpful in giving the right balance to the side.

The owners of Mumbai Indians seemed to be happy with their squad. All this happened after all the focus was on the change in captaincy. Hardik Pandya was named the captain of the side, and there seems to be no explanation given for not continuing with Rohit Sharma as their captain for the 17th edition of the league.

It has resulted in the anger of the fans of the star cricketer. Talking about his form with the bat, Sanjay Manjrekar felt that the T20 form of the star batter is a bit of concern. The former Indian cricketer was in the commentary box when he talked about the batting of MI and in particular that of Rohit.

'Rohit Sharma, for me, as a batter, is a question mark in T20 cricket' - Sanjay Manjrekar

Sanjay felt that the success of Rohit in ODIs cannot be equated with his potential form in T20 cricket due to several factors. "Rohit Sharma, for me, as a batter, is a question mark in T20 cricket. has shown promise, the way he played in the 50-over World Cups. But that's a completely different format when you know you have fifty overs. They bat in that fashion. Bowlers just bowl differently in 50 overs as well," said Manjrekar.

He said that batters and bowlers adopt different methods in ODIs as compared to that in T20s. "Ishan Kishan from a couple of seasons before MI paid the big bucks... he is in the same kind of form. Tim David is still trying to fill the shoes of Kieron Pollard. On form, one player that you can maybe depend on, the player who you can expect to come good, is Suryakumar Yadav," added Manjrekar.
