Kochi Blue Tigers' opening batter Sanju Samson turned the tide towards his team in the eighth game of the ongoing Kerala Cricket League season at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram as he went on to score a beautiful century to propel his side to an exceptional win against the Aries Kollam Sailors on Sunday, August 24.

While Samson started off the KCL 2025 campaign batting at No.6 in the middle-order, scoring only 13 runs off 22 balls in the first game against Alleppey Ripples, he couldn’t get a chance to bat in the team’s second game. However, he decided to move up the order in the team’s third game of the season.

Moving into the details of the game, Sailors batted first and posted a daunting total of 236/5 in 20 overs. In response, Samson, who opened the innings, scored 121 runs off 51 balls with 14 fours and seven sixes at a strike rate of 237.25 as Tigers finished the game on the last ball to win it by four wickets.

“It’s not easy to lose a game in front of your home crowd. So I thank all the people who turned up in huge numbers,” Samson said after winning the player of the match award.

“To be very honest, I’m not much aware of the boys. But as much as I’m spending time with them, I’m getting very excited. Very exciting talent in the team. It’s a bit shocking to see we have so much talent in Kerala cricket. I request that we have to put in some special eyes in the local games going on, especially for all the players. In the next one or two years, we should see one more guy playing for the country. And I can see that happening. With this talent, I don’t think that we are very far away,” he added.

Notably, Kochi Blue Tigers are unbeaten in the campaign with three consecutive wins in three games so far, picking up six points at an NRR of 1.98, leading the standings.
