Indian middle-order batter Sarfaraz Khan, who has been ousted from India and India A teams, has finally broken the silence on his non-selection in the red-ball formats for the ongoing two-match South Africa Test series at home.

Speaking to the media ahead of the next Ranji Trophy 2025-26 round, Sarfaraz has stated that there is no need to change anything in his technique as he has been amongst the runs constantly, adding that he can’t score runs in every single match.

“I do not think I need to change anything because I am doing well. I have always played a lot of balls (in training) and even now I try to practice as much as I can,” Sarfaraz told the media.

“One cannot score runs in every single match. The past four seasons have been good, and sometimes a batter loses his wicket despite playing well. But we can always get back to scoring runs,” he added.

Furthermore, he also disclosed that there is no frustration for him despite not being selected in the national team and the India A side recently. He went on to state that he has scored plenty of runs in the last four seasons.

“There is no frustration at all. If you look at my record, I have scored a lot of runs. People have one season in four years where they make a thousand runs, but maine chaar-paanch saal daba ke runs banaye hain (I have made plenty of runs for 4-5 years),” he stated.

Speaking about his stats in the longest format of the game, Sarfaraz has played six Tests, amassing 371 runs from 11 innings at an average of 37.1 with one century and three half-centuries.

While he was part of the Indian Test team in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia Down Under, he wasn’t part of the XI in any of the five games. Later, he was excluded from the Test squad.
