Pakistani pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi has responded to the Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav’s comments about not considering India vs Pakistan clashes as a rivalry anymore. Notably, Afridi attended the pre-match press conference ahead of their Bangladesh Super Four clash on Wednesday, September 24.
While speaking in the pre-match press conference, Afridi stated that his side will settle the scores in the much-awaited grand finale if India and Pakistan make it to the final on Sunday, September 28, in Dubai.
“That’s his view, let him say. When we meet (in the likely Asia Cup final on Sunday), we will see kya hai, kya nahi. Tab dekh lenge. We are here to win the Asia Cup and we will give our best effort for that,” Afridi said in the pre-match press conference ahead of their Bangladesh game.
After the India vs Pakistan Super Four clash, Suryakumar Yadav, who attended the post-match press conference, had asserted that he doesn’t consider the India vs Pakistan matches a rivalry anymore, stirring a controversy among the Pakistan cricketing fraternity
“According to me, if two teams have to play 15-20 matches, and if there’s a 7-all or someone is ahead 8-7, then it’s called playing good cricket and it’s called rivalry. 13-0, 10-1, I don’t know what the stats are. But this is not a rivalry anymore,” Surya had said on Sunday.
While India defeated the UAE, Pakistan, and Oman to make it to the Super Four round by topping the points table in Group A, they continued their good run in the Super Four round by defeating Pakistan and Bangladesh in two consecutive encounters. They will next take on Sri Lanka in their next game before moving to the grand finale.
