Former Indian head coach and now, the commentator Ravi Shastri came up with a big statement while talking about the star Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi. Shastri lashed out at the star pacer during the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023 match between India and Pakistan. Notably, both teams played this match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, October 14.

Ravi Shastri felt that there is no comparison between Shaheen Afridi and the former legendary Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram. He said that Shaheen is a good bowler but there is no need to exaggerate someone without any strong base.

“Shaheen Shah Afridi is no Wasim Akram. He's a good bowler, but no need to overhype him. When he's just good enough, no need to forcefully say he's an unbelievable bowler,” said Ravi Shastri during his commentary stint at Star Sports. 

Speaking of the action of the match between India and Pakistan, the hosts skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and asked Pakistan to bat first. Batting first, Pakistan got quite a bit good start from their top-4 as they were 155/2 at one stage in 29.3 overs. But then happened a sudden collapse that completely disturbed Pakistan’s batting lineup and they got bundled out on the score of 191 runs in 42.5 overs.

All Indian bowlers except Shardul Thakur, scalped 2 wickets each for the men in blue in the first innings and played a crucial role in destroying Pakistan’s batting attack.

While chasing the target, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma once again shone with the bat and smashed a brilliant knock of 86 runs off just 63 balls, hitting 6 fours and 6 sixes with the willow. Other than him, middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer also contributed with an unbeaten knock of 53 runs, hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes. 

On the back of these knocks, India comfortably chased down the target in 30.3 overs and won the match by a massive margin of 7 wickets to go to the top of the points table in the tournament.
