Former Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik has issued a huge statement after his Bangladesh Premier League contract was terminated. On Friday, news came out that Fortune Barishal had terminated Malik's contract for his three no-balls. This raised a lot of suspicion about the league and possible fixing claims were made.

Meanwhile, out-of-favour Pakistan opener Ahmed Shehzad has been named as the replacement. The 32-year-old put out a tweet that notified the fans about his arrival in Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, Malik has been in the eye of the storm for news both on and off the field. Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik recently announced their separation. This was followed by the 41-year-old tying the knot for the third time.

After the entire controversy surrounding his contract with Fortune Barishal being terminated, Malik has issued a statement. Taking to Twitter, Pakistan’s former skipper set the record straight with a huge statement.

“I would like to address and dismiss the recent rumors circulating about my playing position with Fortune Barishal. I had a thorough discussion with our captain, Tamim Iqbal, and we mutually planned the way forward. I had to leave Bangladesh for a pre-committed media engagement in Dubai,” he wrote.

The statement further stated how happy he was playing in the league and playing the game on the whole. With three huge no-balls and after giving away 18 runs, Shoaib Malik’s night with the ball ended. The all-rounder also refuted rumours about any involvement with any kind of wrongdoing.

There were calls for his removal as the suspicion over match-fixing began to creep in. On Friday, the owner of Fortune Barishal decided to snap ties with Shoaib Malik. This was followed by the call-up to Ahmed Shehzad to replace his former skipper.

Ahmed Shehzad hasn’t played for Pakistan for the last five years and has been looking to make a comeback to the side. Meanwhile, the future of Shoaib Malik remains unclear after this latest controversy. With the T20I World Cup later this year, Shoaib Malik has expressed his interest in playing for Pakistan once again.
