The Punjab Kings (PBKS) skipper Shreyas Iyer has opened up after his team lost to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by six runs in the IPL 2025 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, June 3.
While Josh Inglis and Shashank Singh gave their best in the chase, scoring maximums whenever the team required, it wasn’t enough for the Punjab Kings as they eventually lost the game by six runs. Speaking at the post-match presentation, Iyer hailed the management and support staff.
“Dejected to be honest but the way our boys came up to the occasion, the way we cherished, it wasn’t immaculate but lot of credit goes to the management, the support staff and each and every person who has participated and contributed,” Iyer said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
Furthermore, Iyer stated his eagerness to come back the next season and lift the trophy after missing out by a whisker this time around. There are multiple uncapped players in the PBKS set-up, and the way they stepped up on different occasions was a big positive, according to Iyer.
Iyer is also confident of these youngsters continuing their good momentum next year for the franchise and propel them to the title win in IPL 2026.
“The job is still half done, we have to be here and win the trophy next year. Positives, definitely the way we turned up and every individual stepping up and saying that he can win the match, there are so many youngsters in the team, I’m sure they’ve gained a lot of experience from these matches. I’m sure when they come next year they will carry immense experience with them. We can build some tactics and strategies around that so that we can play some decent cricket,” he added.
