According to reports, Shubman Gill, the captain of the Gujarat Titans cricket team, gave Rs 35 lakh worth of medical equipment to the district hospital in Mohali as part of a CSR (corporate social responsibility) project.
Crucial equipment like ventilators, syringe pumps, OT tables, ceiling lights, intensive care unit beds, and X-ray machines are included in the contribution. Important equipment, such as a ventilator, an operation theater light, a multi-parameter monitor, small operation theater tables, bedside monitors, and an X-ray machine, have been provided by the Indian ODI vice-captain.
Shubman Gill's generosity will significantly aid the hospital in meeting the demands of the patients, according to civil surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain.
“The equipment would be used after assessing the need. If any other hospital is in need, it can be provided,” she was quoted as saying by The Tribune India.
Notably, Shubman Gill polished his cricket skills in Mohali as a child, attending a nearby private school. His continuous construction of a home in the city demonstrates his great connection to the community.
Shubman Gill lauded for his generous donation to the hospital
Dr. Kushaldeep Kaur, Gill's aunt and Patiala's District Immunization Officer (DIO), oversaw the equipment handover. Her presence lent a personal touch to the endeavor, ensuring that the equipment reached the correct hands.
The donation comes at a critical time when public healthcare systems are struggling to satisfy rising demand. With new equipment, the hospital hopes to improve patient care and operational efficiency, perhaps saving countless lives in the region.
This deliberate approach ensures that Gill's contribution has a knock-on impact, potentially benefiting several healthcare locations throughout Punjab. The ventilator, in particular, is a game changer in critical care, with the X-ray system and monitors improving diagnostic and monitoring capabilities.
Shubman Gill has been the best performer in matches between the Gujarat Titans and the Mumbai Indians, scoring 274 runs at an average of 54.80 and a strike rate of 170.18 over five games.
