Shubman Gill’s experience is helping me: Sai Sudharsan

Gujarat Titans opening batter Sai Sudharsan has hailed skipper Shubman Gill for maintaining excellent communication with him. Notably, the Titans secured a 39-run win over the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Monday, April 21.

Sai and Gill stitched a 114-run stand for the first wicket against KKR. While Sudharsan smacked 52 runs in 36 balls with six fours and a six, Gill went on to score 90 runs in 55 balls with 10 fours and three sixes.

“At the start of the game, the pitch was really slow and we found it really difficult in the powerplay. After that, we got the speed of the wicket. Me and Shuby (Gill) had great communication, we tried to make use of the bad ball they gave us and tried to take the game deep. Have been enjoying the company of Shuby. His experience is helping me," said Sudharsan in a mid-innings chat with the broadcasters.

Eventually, GT posted a dominating total of 198/3 in 20 overs. Jos Buttler, who batted at No.3, also scored 41* runs in 23 balls with eight fours. In response, KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane could score only 50 runs in 36 balls with five fours and a six.

“It matters when the conditions are difficult and we try to make use of the running between the wickets. We understood the wicket was difficult so we tried to bat deep because wickets in hand is the most important thing. To be honest, we have given the bowlers a very good total to defend," he concluded.

Eventually, KKR could score only 159/8 in 20 overs, losing the game by 39 runs. Prasidh Krishna and Rashid Khan were the star bowlers, scalping two wickets each while Mohammed Siraj, Ishant Sharma, Washington Sundar and R Sai Kishore picked up a wicket apiece.
