Team India's outstanding play at the last minute determined the outcome of the series, and the inaugural Anderson-Tendulkar trophy concluded in a thrilling draw. Both teams gave it their best on the field during the five-match Test series, which produced exciting red-ball action.

The cricket community continued to debate about the series even after it was over. Stuart Broad, a former English great, recently revealed his combined playing XI from the intense series in a podcast.

As the longest format displayed its ultimate grace in the just-finished Test series, spectators reveled in the exciting red-ball drama.

When Stuart Broad selected his combined playing XI from the series, when speaking on the "For The Love of Cricket" podcast, his selections attracted attention. Although both teams' openers gave excellent games, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal stole the show and outperformed their English counterparts.

They provided the side with a solid base and stood tall throughout the series. For the opening position, Broad depended on the pair. He supported his compatriots Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, and Ben Stokes to fill the next four spots, solidifying their places in the starting lineup.

Stuart Broad picks Joe Root over Shubman Gill at no. 4

Shubman Gill, who finished with 754 runs, was the series' best scorer; thus, he raised his bat high. Conversely, veteran English batsman Joe Root maintained his dominance by hitting outstanding knocks when England needed them.

The English legend found it difficult to decide between the two, but in the end, he went with Root.

Despite all of the spectacular hits, Rishabh Pant's perseverance was evident when he batted for India in the fourth Test despite having a fractured toe and reaching a half-century. After being impressed with his brave performance in Manchester, Broad was quick to select Pant as the wicketkeeper in his combined XI.

Coming to the spinners, Broad decided to surprise everyone as he picked Washington Sundar over Ravindra Jadeja. Jadeja had scored 516 runs with one century and five fifties. While Sundar made 284 runs in four tests with one ton and one fifty. Jadeja picked 7 wickets, and Sundar took 7 wickets as well.

The Indian pacers dominated Stuart Broad’s pace bowling unit, with Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah securing their spots. Mohammed Siraj became the series' best wicket-taker with unrelenting regularity, while Jasprit Bumrah performed his magic in just three games. Jofra Archer, England's speed guru, also guaranteed his spot in the starting lineup.

Broad’s Combined Playing XI:

Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes, Rishabh Pant, Washington Sundar, Jofra Archer, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah.
