Team India thrashed Pakistan in the sixth match of the Asia Cup on Sunday (September 14). They chased down the target of 128 runs with seven wickets in hand and more than four overs to spare. However, what happened after the match caught the attention with none of the Indian players and support staff shaking hands with Pakistan cricketers.

Suryakumar Yadav just walked away after smashing the winning six and Shivam Dube also followed him as India shut the door of the dressing room, even as Pakistan camp waited to shake hands. Meanwhile, former India cricketer Suresh Raina has now revealed that none of the Indian team players were even willing to play against Pakistan in the Asia Cup.

According to him, Surya’s troops walked out on the park only as formality as the BCCI had agreed to participate in the tournament. “I know one thing for sure. If you personally ask the players, none of them wants to play the Asia Cup. In a way, they are forced because the BCCI has agreed to it.

“I am sad that India are playing against Pakistan, but I can also say for a fact that if Suryakumar Yadav and his players are asked about their personal opinions about playing against Pakistan, they would have said no. None of them wanted to play,” Raina said while speaking to Sports Tak.

Surya dedicated the win to Pahalgam terror attack victims and armed forces

However, the Indian skipper won hearts with his handshake snub and also dedicating the win to Pahalgam terror attack victims and the brave armed forces of the country. “Just wanted to say something. Perfect occasion, taking the time out, we stand by the families of the victims of Pahalgam terror attack. We express our solidarity. Want to dedicate the win to all our armed forces who showed a lot of bravery. Hope they continue to inspire us all and we give them more reasons on the ground whenever we get an opportunity to make them smile,” Surya said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
