Suryakumar Yadav breaks silence on social media chatter ahead of India vs Pakistan clash

Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has opened up on the social media chatter ahead of the India vs Pakistan clash in the group stage of the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 campaign on Sunday, September 14, in Dubai.

For the unversed, there were a lot of boycott calls on social media ahead of the much-anticipated India vs Pakistan clash. However, India went ahead with their participation in the game, following the Indian government’s order.

Speaking after the match, Surya asserted that our support staff and players have been advised to block the outside noise, which helped everyone to execute their skills on the field. Notably, India secured a seven-wicket comfortable win over Pakistan on Sunday.

"Let me speak to you about social media. The players and support staff of our team had a talk after arriving in Dubai. We spoke about trying to ignore the outside noise. We knew that if we blocked out the outside noise, then it would be easier for us to execute our skills on the ground. I don't know what's happening outside because my team keeps me away from such things," Suryakumar Yadav said.

"I am sure the other players and the support staff members also try to stay away. If you do this, then only you can be in the best shape to take the field and execute the skills on the ground. The crowd that came to cheer and support us definitely helped us," Suryakumar added.

After the match, the Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav dedicated India’s win to the Indian armed forces and to the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. 

Captain Surya was the star batter in the 128-run chase, scoring an unbeaten 47-run knock off 37 balls with five fours and a six. On the other hand, Tilak Varma (31) and Abhishek Sharma (31) also shone with the willow. Kuldeep Yadav was adjudged the player of the match for his three-wicket haul.
