After the five-wicket win in the Asia Cup 2025 grand finale over Pakistan, the Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav decided to donate his match fee from the tournament to the Indian Armed Forces and the families of the victims of the Pahalgam attack.

As soon as India bagged a five-wicket win in the title clash, the Indian skipper took to his X handle to reveal the news about his donation. Interestingly, this was the third consecutive time India defeated Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 campaign.

“I have decided to donate my match fees from this tournament to support our Armed Forces and the families of the victims who suffered from the Pahalgam terror attack. You always remain in my thoughts,” SKY tweeted.

After India's five-wicket win, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a whopping prize money of INR 21 crore for the players and support staff. While India was prepared to receive the trophy from Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) vice-chairman Khalid Al Zarooni, the ACC Chief Mohsin Naqvi did not permit this.

Interestingly, Indian players didn’t collect the trophy from Naqvi, who decided to walk away from the podium with the trophy to his hotel, which didn’t go down well with the Indian players and the BCCI.

"This is one thing which I have never seen since I have started playing cricket, since I have started following cricket, that a champion team is denied a trophy. That too a hard-earned one, it's not like we got it easily. It was a hard-earned tournament. We were here since the 4th, played two back-to-back good games. I feel we deserved it. I can't say anything more, I think I have summed it up really well, I can't say anything more about it,” SKY said in the post-match press conference.

"If you tell me about the trophies, my trophies are sitting in the dressing room, all the 14 guys, all the support staff - those are the real trophies who I have been a big fan of throughout this journey of the Asia Cup. Those are the real trophies, the real moments which I am taking back as lovely memories and which will stay forever,” he added.
