India and South Africa will clash in the Super 8s stage of the T20 World Cup 2026 on February 22, 2026. This Group 1 clash of Super 8s will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

India qualified for the Super 8s from Group A undefeated, and so has South Africa, who didn’t lose a single game in Group D. India had a scare against the USA, while South Africa was taken right to the wire by Afghanistan at this same venue in Ahmedabad.

Ahead of their Super 8s stage game, let's take a look at the five players to watch out for in the IND vs. SA game.

Here are the 5 players to watch out for in the India vs. South Africa Super 8 clash of the T20 World Cup 2026:

5. Marco Jansen

Marco Jansen has always done well with both the bat and the ball against India, in any format. He recently did well against India in the Test series and ODIs and was in full form in the T20I series as well. Now coming to his performance in the T20 World Cup, Jansen has taken 7 wickets at an economy of 10.2 in three games. He hasn’t got the chance to showcase his hitting power with the willow, but be assured India will be wary of his batting talents as well.

4. Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan has made full use of his return to the Indian team. He started with two fifties and one century against New Zealand and did extremely well in the T20 World Cup 2026 as well. With Abhishek Sharma failing, Kishan has ensured India gets a terrific start in power plays. His knock of 77 against Pakistan helped India post an imposing total. Overall, he has made 176 runs in 4 games in the T20 World Cup, with two fifties and a strike rate of 202.29.

3. Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah returned to the T20I team with ample break, as he didn’t play in the ODI series against New Zealand at home. Even in the home T20I series against the Kiwis, he was played in selected matches, and he came back refreshed for the T20 World Cup 2026. He has taken 4 wickets in 3 games, with his best performance of 2/17 coming against Pakistan. He’ll be lethal for the Proteas with both the new ball and in death overs, and Markram and co. will need to find a way to keep him at bay.

2. Aiden Markram

Aiden Markram, the South Africa captain, has led the team with the bat. He has been on a roll in the T20 format, having done well in the SA20 league. Markram then played two brilliant knocks in the T20 World Cup 2026, scoring 59 against Canada and 86* against New Zealand in a close game. He has overall scored 178 runs in 4 matches with a strike rate of 187.36. India will need to be prepared for an assault by Markram on its bowlers right from the get-go, as he is adept at dealing with both pacers and spinners.

1. Varun Chakaravarthy

Varun Chakaravarthy has been in great form for India in T20Is, including the T20 World Cup 2026. He has 9 wickets at an economy of 5.16 and a best bowling of 3/7. He has led the way for India with the spin and has been included in the XI ahead of a match-winner like Kuldeep Yadav. He has done well against South Africa in T20Is previously as well, including a fifer to his name. Proteas batters have struggled against him and have not picked his turn as well. Expect a good contest between them and Chakaravarthy.
