T20 World Cup 2026: India to lock horns with Pakistan on February 15; check full schedule

The International Cricket Council (ICC), on Tuesday, November 25, announced the schedule for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026 edition, which is scheduled to start on Saturday, February 7. Notably, India and Sri Lanka will host the 10th edition of the competition. 

A total of 20 teams are playing the forthcoming campaign. 40 group stage matches will be played between February 7-20, with the top two teams from each group then advancing to the Super Eights round.

Later, the top four teams from the Super Eight group qualify for the semi-finals to be held in Kolkata or Colombo and Mumbai ahead of the title decider on March 8 in Ahmedabad or Colombo. India and Pakistan will lock horns on February 15 in Colombo in the group stage.

While India, USA, Namibia, Netherlands and Pakistan are slotted in Group A, Australia, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Ireland and Oman are part of Group B. Talking about Group C, England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Italy and Nepal are part of it, with Group D having South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Italy and Nepal.

The passion for cricket in this region is unmatched, and fans have been waiting eagerly for another global spectacle. The announcement of the fixtures brings us a step closer, and I have no doubt that the five venues in India and three in Sri Lanka will be alive with energy throughout the tournament,” he said.

“The T20 format continues to drive the sport’s global expansion and will be showcased at the LA Olympics in 2028. With that in mind, the 2026 edition will capture the imagination of millions. One can already picture the electric atmosphere at the Narendra Modi Stadium when the champions lift the trophy on 8 March,” Jay Shah concluded.
