T20 World Cup 2026: Team India's schedule in Super 8

The opponents of India in the Super 8 have been confirmed. The dates for India's Super 8 matches are now set, with Zimbabwe becoming the most recent side to advance to the Super 8 stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 after their match against Ireland in Pallekele washed out on Tuesday. 

After defeating bitter rivals Pakistan by 61 runs in Colombo on Sunday, India moved to the Super 8 stage. With three victories from three games, they are presently leading Group A. 

On Wednesday, India will play the Netherlands in their last group-stage match at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. India won their 2022 T20 World Cup match in Sydney, the only previous time the two nations have faced each other in T20 Internationals.

T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8s

The International Cricket Council (ICC) declared eight seeded teams based on the T20I standings prior to the 2026 T20 World Cup. If an unseeded team advances at the expense of a seeded team, it will take the Super 8 position that was originally assigned to the eliminated seeded team from that group.

Australia, India, the West Indies, and South Africa are pre-seeded for Group 1 of the T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 stage, while New Zealand, Sri Lanka, England, and Pakistan are pre-seeded for Group 2.

The top two teams from each Super 8s group advance to the T20 World Cup 2026 semifinals.

The Super 8 stage of the 2026 T20 World Cup will begin on February 21 and conclude on March 1. Before the 2026 T20 World Cup, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced eight seeded teams based on the T20I rankings. 

These teams will be assigned to specific slots for the Super 8 stage, regardless of their group round results.

The eight qualifiers will be divided into two groups for the Super 8 stage, and each team will play the other three teams in its group once. The semi-finals will thereafter be reached by the top two teams in each group.

India’s Super 8s schedule:

In the Super 8 stage, India have been put in Group 1 along with South Africa, West Indies and Zimbabwe.

India will face South Africa in their first Super 8s clash on February 22 in Ahmedabad. Following the match against South Africa, India will travel to Chennai to play Zimbabwe at the M Chidambaram Stadium on February 26. The hosts end their Super 8 campaign against West Indies at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on March 1.
