“That’s why he is an Australian legend” - Axar Patel hails Mitchell Starc after his heroics vs RR

Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel hailed the star pacer Mitchell Starc for his 20th over and Super Over heroics to steer the franchise to a thrilling and nail-biting victory against the Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday, April 16 the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

After losing the toss, Delhi Capitals were tasked to bat first. They posted a dominating total of 188/5 in 20 overs. In the chase, interestingly Rajasthan Royals also scored 188/4 in 20 overs to take the game to the Super Over.

Mitchell Starc returned for his final spell in the 18th over when the Royals required 33 runs from 18 balls. Interestingly, the speedster conceded only eight runs in the 18th over, picking up well-settled Nitish Rana for 51 runs off 28 balls to turn the game upside down.

Later in the 20th over, the Royals required only nine runs to win the game. However, Mitchell Starc nailed absolute yorkers to give away only eight runs to tie the game and take it to the Super Over.

In the Super Over, Starc continued his exceptional yorkers, restricting the Rajasthan Royals to scoring only 11 runs as they got all out in five balls. Later, Delhi Capitals batters KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs sealed the game in four balls without losing a wicket.

At the post-match presentation ceremony, captain Axar Patel hailed Starc for absolutely nail-biting 12 yorkers to keep his side back in the game and propel to a nail-biting Super Over victory.

“I thought that if Starc could execute, he could bring us back in the game. He bowled the 20th over and the Super Over. So to bowl 12 yorkers in 12 balls, that's why he's an Australian legend,” Axar said in the post-match presentation ceremony.
