When the Women's Hundred was perhaps one of the first tournaments where the women cricketers got equal billing to their male counterparts. They didn’t have much competition with the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) in Australia being the only other significant women’s competition.
The Hundred tournament by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) gave the female cricketers with a new platform to showcase their skills and talent. This gave them recognition and a stepping stone for the national team as well.
Women’s Hundred was a trailblazer as when the Women’s Premier League (WPL) and Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) has only five and three teams each, the Hundred featured eight teams, giving more spots to female cricketers to perform. This became one of the biggest reasons for the Women’s Hundred becoming a huge hit with the masses and the players as well.
