Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir has opened up on the dressing room rifts during the recently concluded Border Gavaskar Trophy that India lost by 1-3 to Australia. Notably, a lot of dressing room talks were leaked in the media during that tour.
Interestingly, after the series defeat, India failed to make it to the WTC Final for the first time. Speaking on the dressing room controversy, Gambhir stated that everything would feel normal once the team returns to winning ways.
"They have played a lot of cricket with each other. More importantly, a month back, there were a couple of other rumours flying around (laughs). That's what Indian cricket is all about. There will be so many things said about the dressing room when things are not going okay. But once results start going in your favour, things start falling in place," Gautam Gambhir told media after India secured a 4-1 T20I series win over England.
"These are an incredible bunch of players. They enjoy themselves, they want to play for their country, they love playing for their country, and they know what it means to represent 140 crore Indians," he added.
“I haven’t seen a better T20 hundred” - Gautam Gambhir on Abhishek Sharma
Furthermore, Gautam Gambhir also praised the Indian dashing opener Abhishek Sharma for his thunderous century against England in the fifth and final T20I at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Sharma's 135-run knock off 54 balls with seven fours and 13 sixes was crucial as India went on to post 247/9 in 20 overs. In the chase, England got bundled out for 97 runs, losing the game by 150 runs.
“We are going to do this going forward, got to play fearless cricket. We want to keep backing players like Abhishek Sharma. We have to be patient to with these boys. Most of these boys believe in the ideology of playing fearless cricket. I haven't seen a better T20 hundred against bowlers who are bowling at 140-150 kph consistently,” Gambhir stated.
