The India vs England series has already kicked off in Hyderabad and the spectators and players will be ready for the contest. The squads of both the teams have caused a really mixed reaction by the people especially after some great players will also be missing out. The people are still going to be looking at this contest as it is being a great contest between two great sides. Players like Virat Kohli and Harry Brook will be missed for a while, where Kohli will be missing the first two Tests and Brook will be missing out in the series for unknown personal reasons where Rajat Patidar will be replacing the batting star in the squad for the first two Tests and the replacement of Brook is still unknown.
With all this talk there will still be one player who will want to prove himself in Test matches once and for all. The batter who will be in the limelight is India’s young sensation Shubman Gill who had exceeded expectations in this format after a great debut in the Border Gavaskar series in 2021. He has also proved himself in the white ball format where he was one of the best batter for India last season. However, his form in Test cricket hasn’t been the best so far where he averaging just over 30 in the 21 matches, he has played.
Shubman Gill on the number 3 spot
There are many people who believe that Gill moving to the number 3 spot in Tests and people think that he has to move back to his original batting position to perform better. Gill has been the first-choice opener in the other two formats and his form at the number 3 spot hasn’t been going well so far. The opener however opened up about his future in the format in an interview with Jio Cinema saying that he likes to bat at the number 3 position and ended the statement says “ Last year was a breakthrough year for me in white-ball. This year, I believe, is going to be a breakthrough year for me in red-ball."
This is a great positive approach shown by the young batter going into this series and we hope he tastes some success as well. We all know that Gill is one of the best young talents India has produced in this era and we would like to see him get better and better. He will have to prove himself in the series in that position which were previously held by one of the great players like Cheteshwar Pujara and Rahul Dravid. The confidence and confidence of Gill going into the series is really good and assuring that he will give great performances in the matches.
