Indian middle-order batter Tilak Varma has agreed with the Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav’s comments of no-rivalry between India and Pakistan teams because of the lack of competition from Men In Green throughout the Asia Cup 2025 campaign.

Speaking to the media after arriving in India, Tilak stated that while the Indian team changes their strategy from match to match, it is quite different for other sides like Pakistan. Moreover, he also asserted that there was pressure in the grand finale, adding that he tried to be calm throughout his innings.

"I agree with what Surya bhai said, that it [Pakistan] is no competition. We change our strategy from match to match," Tilak Varma said.

“There indeed was pressure; a lot was going on in my mind. But the country is above everything else. India is at the top. So, I was determined to give everything for my country. I tried to be calm,” he added.

After the six-wicket win over Pakistan in the Super Four clash, the Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav made a startling statement in the post-match press conference, stating that there is no rivalry between the arch-rivals anymore.

"Standards and rivalry are the same. According to me, if two teams play 15-20 matches and if [head-to-head] it is 7-7 or 8-7, then that is called a rivalry. But 13-0, 10-1….I don't know what the stats are. But this is not a rivalry anymore. But yeah, I feel we played better cricket than them,” SKY had said.

While India stood unbeaten throughout the tournament, defeating Pakistan thrice in the competition, Pakistan’s only defeats in the campaign came against India, while they defeated the UAE, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka in the group stage and Super Four round.
