Since its inception, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been a platform where power hitters from around the globe have displayed their incredible six-hitting prowess. Over the last 17 seasons, fans have witnessed some colossal strikes that have left everyone in awe. Among them, South Africa’s Albie Morkel tops the list for the longest six in IPL history.

In the inaugural season of 2008, while playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Morkel smashed Deccan Chargers’ Pragyan Ojha for a massive 125-meter six at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Praveen Kumar surprised everyone in 2013 with a 124-meter six against Mumbai Indians’ (MI) Lasith Malinga. Representing Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), this strike remains the second-longest six in IPL history.

Former Australian skipper Adam Gilchrist also features on this list for his monstrous 122-meter six while playing for KXIP against Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) Charles Langeveldt in 2011 at Dharamshala. Robin Uthappa, playing for RCB in 2010, launched a 120-meter six against MI’s Dwayne Bravo at the Wankhede Stadium.

The “Universe Boss” Chris Gayle, renowned for his six-hitting ability, sent a delivery flying 119 meters during his iconic 175*-run knock in 2013 against Pune Warriors India at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Yuvraj Singh and Ross Taylor also hold their place in the record books with 119-meter sixes.

Yuvraj’s six came against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 2009, while Taylor smashed CSK’s Jacob Oram in the inaugural season of 2008. In 2016, Ben Cutting of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) hit a 117-meter six against RCB. Similarly, Gautam Gambhir, while representing Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2013, smashed RR’s Sreesanth for a 117-meter strike in Jaipur.

More recently, in the 2022 season, England’s Liam Livingstone showcased his immense power by hitting a 117-meter six off Gujarat Titans’ Mohammed Shami while playing for Punjab Kings (PBKS).
