Vaibhav Suryavanshi after scoring the fastest Youth ODI ton

14-year-old India U19 batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who smacked the fastest Youth ODI century in the fourth Youth ODI against England U19, has stated that he was inspired by watching Indian Test captain Shubman Gill bat in the Birmingham Test and wants to emulate him in the future.

Notably, Vaibhav went on to smack a 143-run knock off 78 balls, reaching his century in only 52 balls, breaking the previous world record held by Kamran Ghulam of Pakistan, who scored in 53 balls in 2019.

"I got a lot of inspiration from him (Shubman Gill) because I saw the game. After making 100 and 200, he didn't leave the game and took the team ahead," Suryavanshi said in a video posted by BCCI on its 'X' account.

Notably, Gill went on to score 269 and 161 in both innings as England were set a target of 608 runs in the fourth innings with one day left in the game. Interestingly, the Indian U19 side was watching Gill’s knock from Edgbaston.

"I will try to make 200 in the next match. Next time, I will try to play a full fifty overs. The more I make runs, the better it will be for my team. I will try to play the whole game in the next game. I will focus on that," he added.

"I could have batted a bit longer because I had a lot of time. After that (his dismissal), there were 20 overs left. So, I could have made it longer," he stated.

"There was a shot (that he got out) that I couldn't give my 100%, that's why I couldn't do it. I didn't know that I had created a record after making 100. Our team manager Ankit sir told me that I have created a record. Everyone congratulated me. I am happy that I have done something good for the team. I will talk to my family and friends," he concluded.
