“I don’t pay…” - Vaibhav Suryavanshi on being Google’s most searched player in India

India’s teenage sensation, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, is currently busy playing in the ongoing Under-19 Asia Cup. He has already lit up the tournament with a massive 171-run knock off 95 balls against the UAE. However, 2025 has been a breakthrough year for the 14-year-old batter and, as a result, according to a list shared by Google, he has emerged as the most searched player in India.

When asked about the same during an interaction with the broadcaster in the ongoing tournament, Vaibhav said his focus remains only on his game and that he does not pay much attention to such things.

“I don’t pay attention to these things. I keep the focus on my game. Yes, I do hear about these developments, and it does feel nice. I look at it, feel good about it and then move forward. That’s about it,” Vaibhav said.

Earlier this year, he made his IPL debut for Rajasthan Royals (RR) and scored 252 runs at an average of 36.00 and a strike rate of 206.55, including one century and one fifty in seven games. He also scored the fastest century by an Indian and the second-fastest overall. In the process, he became the youngest player and the youngest centurion in IPL history.

He then smashed the fastest century on record in youth one-day internationals, reaching the landmark in 52 balls against England in England. He followed it up with a quickfire century against Australia in a youth Test in Australia. Vaibhav again showcased his ability in the Asia Cup Rising Stars T20 match, smashing 144 off 42 balls against the UAE.

Vaibhav will be in action again for RR in the upcoming IPL 2026. However, speaking to the Hindustan Times, former India opener Shikhar Dhawan issued a word of caution. According to him, the second IPL season will be a challenge for Vaibhav, especially when it comes to handling fame.

“A 14-year-old kid playing a big league like that and dominating is unthinkable. For him, the challenge is going to be how he is gonna handle the fame, the attention, and the money as well,” he said.
