Virat Kohli is the master of ODI cricket: KL Rahul

Indian stand-in ODI captain KL Rahul has opened up on the Indian batting stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma returning to the dressing room for the forthcoming ODI series against South Africa, scheduled to start on Sunday, November 30, in Ranchi.

Speaking at the pre-series press conference, the Indian middle-order batter has asserted that taking singles is as important as hitting boundaries, and he is keen to have a discussion with Kohli in the dressing room, calling him the master of the 50-over format.

"Taking singles is as important as hitting boundaries. That's something Virat has done so well in his career. In the dressing room, we talk with him about how to improve. He is the master of ODI cricket. Good to have him back in the dressing room," KL Rahul said in the pre-series press conference in Ranchi.

Furthermore, KL Rahul also emphasised that the Indian team is trying to forget the Test series whitewash to South Africa and is aiming for a fresh start in the three-match ODI series against the Proteas.

"Their importance at any point is huge. They make the dressing room feel a lot more confident. Winning is the most important thing. We are trying to forget what happened a week ago," he added.

Notably, Ravindra Jadeja has returned to the ODI set-up for the forthcoming series, replacing Axar Patel, after missing out on the ODI series against Australia Down Under. Speaking on the all-rounder’s inclusion, Rahul called him a vital player in the Indian dressing room.

"Jadeja is someone who has done it all. He missed out on the Australia tour, but he was there in the Champions Trophy. He can do it with the bat, ball, and on the field. Good to have him back in the dressing room," the middle-order batter concluded.
