“She is a Bengaluru girl as well” - Virat Kohli on Anushka Sharma after RCB lift IPL 2025 title

As the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured its first-ever title in 18 years after defeating the Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six runs in the IPL 2025 grand finale at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, June 3, the former skipper Virat Kohli has opened up on his wife Anushka Sharma.

Speaking after the exciting match, Kohli stated that there are a lot of things that go on behind the scenes, as his wife has gone through a lot emotionally. Moreover, he asserted that she is a Bengalurian and she is very proud of this achievement. 

"Professionally you understand the amount of things that go behind the scenes and what they go through as well. What Anushka has gone through emotionally; watching me being down and out, her coming to games, being so connected to Bengaluru. She is a Bengaluru girl as well and is connected to RCB. She is going to be so-so proud," said Kohli at the post-match presentation.

Delving into the details of the game, the Bengaluru franchise was asked to bat first after losing the toss. The former skipper Virat Kohli (43 off 35) and captain Rajat Patidar (26 off 16) added some important runs initially. Moreover, in the middle overs, Liam Livingstone (25 off 15) and Jitesh Sharma (24 off 10) had some amazing time, scoring crucial runs.

At the end, RCB posted 190/9 in 20 overs. In the chase, PBKS No.3 batter Josh Inglis turned the heads, scoring 39 runs in 23 balls. Meanwhile, Shashank Singh gave his best, scoring 61* runs in 30 balls with three fours and six sixes. However, RCB eventually bagged a six-run win to lift the elusive title. Krunal Pandya was awarded the player of the match for his spell of 2/17 in four overs.
