Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer Yash Dayal has opened up on the advice he received from former RCB captain Virat Kohli and the backing he received from the RCB management after his horror show in the IPL 2023 season.
Notably, Yash Dayal, who was part of the Gujarat Titans’ set-up in IPL 2023, was attacked by KKR finisher Rinku Singh as he smacked him for five consecutive sixes to take his side over the winning line.
Though Dayal was released by the Titans ahead of the IPL 2024 season, he was later roped in by the Bengaluru franchise at the IPL 2025 mega auction. Nevertheless, Dayal has emerged as one of the important bowlers in the RCB set-up in the ongoing season.
Most recently against the Chennai Super Kings in Bengaluru, Dayal was tasked with defending 15 runs in the last over of the contest, and he successfully helped his side win the game by two runs.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference against LSG, Dayal stated that the advice from Kohli would be with him, and RCB's support is another reason behind the good results from him this season.
"It's a very big thing - I've said it before as well - the things Virat bhaiya explained to me still stay in my mind even now. And the kind of backing I received from the RCB management, the support they gave me, the results are clearly because of that. So yes, I would say that the turnaround in my career has happened because of that to a large extent," said Dayal.
'Focus on execution'.
Moreover, the RCB pacer stated that before each game, his process is to control his nerves and not to worry about things that aren’t in his control. After the horror show in IPL 2023, the RCB pacer is sticking to the process rather than looking at the batter.
"My process is that I try to control my nerves pre-match and rather than worrying, I try not to think about the things that are not in my control. And the second thing is, after what happened in 2023, I try to pay as much attention to the process as possible and not to the batsman. I try to focus on execution," Yash Dayal added.
