Virat Kohli's IPL salary from 2008 to 2025 (Updated list)

Virat Kohli has been with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru since the inception of the Indian Premier League and has been the role model of loyalty to a franchise. 

The star batter has been pretty vocal about his love for the franchise and has claimed that he would play his entire IPL career for one and one team only which is the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. 

He has also been synonymous with RCB's brand, having led the team for as many as eight seasons and if rumours are to be believed, RCB could have him as captain once again for the IPL 2025 season. 

With as many as eight centuries and 55 half-centuries, Kohli is also the highest scorer in the history of the IPL with 8004 runs in 244 innings. He had been first picked from the U19 draft during the 2008 edition of the IPL auction. Emerged as India's U19 World Cup winning captain, Kohli was picked for INR 12 lakh, which was his salary for the first three IPL seasons. 

Ahead of the mega auction after the IPL 2010 season, RCB decided to retain just Virat Kohli and that meant that the youngster who had now become a mainstay in the Indian team would get a whopping INR 8.28 crore from the franchise for his services. Kohli's stature grew from strength to strength as he became the captain of the franchiseand was retained ahead of the 2014 mega auction for INR 12.5 crore. 

2016 was Kohli's best year in the IPL as he scored 973 runs and single handedly took RCB to the final where they lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad. His contributions were once again rewarded by RCB as he was retained for 17 crore ahead of the 2018 Mega auction of the league. 

Kohli took a pay cut for the IPL 2022, 2023 and 2024 seasons where his salary was 15 crore in a bid to form a strong core of players around him. He has been retained for a whopping INR 21 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 season.
