'Waah kya acting kar rha hai' - Fans react to Shahid Afridi's 'I was against it' statement on Shaheen Afridi captaining Pakistan Cricket Team

Pakistan Cricket Board appointed Shaheen Afridi as T20I skipper, alongside appointing Shan Masood as Test skipper after Babar Azam's resignation as captain across all formats.

In the recent turnaround of events, the Pakistan Cricket Board announced the new captains of the Pakistan cricket team in Tests and T20Is after the star batter Babar Azam resigned from the team’s captaincy across all formats. PCB named Shaheen Afridi as the captain of Pakistan’s T20I team, alongside Shan Masood, who will lead the team in the longest format of the game.

Meanwhile, some of the Pakistan cricket fans dragged the former Pakistan skipper Shaheen Afridi and blamed him for having an impact on the appointment of Shaheen as Pakistan’s T20I skipper. However, Shahid Afridi slammed all these allegations and cleared his stance over the same during a conversation on a Pakistan TV news channel.

"I was scrolling through my Twitter, and I saw that now they're running something with my name that Shahid Afridi stated, in my opinion, Shaheen Afridi can lead the team better than Babar Azam, Lahore Qalandars won a PSL trophy under his captaincy," said Afridi to Samaa TV being sarcastic on misinformation over social media.

“I don't understand why they are saying such things, even though I express my views on Samaa. I share my perspective on Samaa, but they interpret it in their way. Although I am the only person who keeps Shaheen away from the captaincy,” he added later while clearing his stand over the ‘Shaheen Afridi captaincy’ debate.

Apart from this, Shaheen Afridi himself came up with a post from his official X handle (formerly Twitter) after being appointed as T20I skipper of the Pakistan cricket team. 

“I am honoured and thrilled to lead our national T20 cricket team. Thank you to the Pakistan cricket board and fans for their trust and support. I'll give my best to uphold the team spirit and bring glory to our nation on the cricket field. Our success lies in unity, trust and relentless effort. We are not just a team; we are a brotherhood, a family. Together, we rise!” wrote Shaheen Afridi in his X-post after PCB appointed him as T20I captain.
